PROGRAM GOAL

The Autism Research Training Program recruits and trains outstanding researchers in the field of Autism in disciplines such as genetics, brain imaging, epidemiology, neurology, psychology and other disciplines.


PROGRAM DESIGN

The program is organized around 2 central sites: McGill & McMaster University and coordinates activities with 7 other Canadian Universities.

Applicants complete their core training at one of the affiliated Universities and conduct research in one of the program sites under the supervision of 3 mentors from the faculty. Regular contacts between all trainees is organized and across site training is facilitated.

A 5-day intensive summer school program is incorporated as part of the training program.


ELIGIBILITY

The program is open to applicants with a solid academic disciplinary background in health care, science, social sciences, or humanities.

Applicants need to submit a research proposal at the training site of their choice. Applicants are selected according to the quality of their research proposal and ART Program qualifications.

A 1-year track program is available for professionals such as nurses, Occupational & Speech Therapists, Social Workers & Educators.

A 3-year track program is available for graduate students, PhDs, post doctoral fellows and MDs.


FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES

Awards will be at CIHR annual rates and provide 1 year of funding.
• MD Research fellows & Post-doctoral fellows ($36,750/yr - $45,000/yr)
• PhD ($20,000/yr)
• Graduate Students ($17,850/yr)
